Grant writing that exceeds expectations
About Me
I discovered my knack for grant writing in late 2023 while working in the Career and Technical Education (CTE) department for a school district as a consulting teacher and CTE specialist. This was a very big change after spending most of my education career as a secondary English teacher.
Eager to take on more responsibility and build additional skill sets at my CTE job, I asked if I could write a grant. Our technical college wanted to open a satellite branch in the north end of the county and needed to purchase a building that required extensive renovations, equipment, and curriculum for the school. The college leadership wanted to pursue a Triumph Gulf Coast, Inc. grant, and I wanted to write that grant.
My $8.35 million grant was well received, and I quickly followed up with a $3.32 million Workforce Development Capitalization Incentive Grant (CAP) for the technical college, and a $1.054 million CAP grant for our district’s CTE programs. I discovered that I not only REALLY like grant writing, I can deliver. This is the origin of Outside the Envelope LLC.
